In Corona times, we are once again focusing more on holidays within our countries. Trips to the domestic mountains do not have to be a journey into virtual isolation, however. Thanks to A1 expertise and »mountain guide« Jürgen Strasser, intellectual inventor of the montane infrastructure at A1 Austria, Austria’s alpine huts with LTE and SAT supply offer strong connections even where the air is thin. Come along on a mountain tour!

Jürgen Strasser

Even as a child, Jürgen Strasser hiked the mountains of Austria. He only achieved the golden hiking pin in the figurative sense, because it soon became more important for him to challenge the technical possibilities of connecting alpine huts as part of his activities at A1. So, in 2014 he did not hesitate for long, but boldly seized the opportunity to push the boundaries of mobile communications far beyond the tree line and equip Austria’s mountain huts with A1 LTE & SAT Internet.

Jürgen’s most beautiful hike

Jürgen prefers to visit the mountains in his second home, Tyrol, where he enjoys not only the magnificent panorama and peace and quiet. The higher you climb the fewer people you meet – so it also fits well in corona times with distance rules. If you have climbed many peaks, you surely know a favourite one? ;-)

»My favourite tour is of course also in Tyrol and starts from Innsbruck. The beginning is still easy – with the Nordkettenbahn up to the Hafelekar mountain station. The ‘Goethe path’ then leads in a 5 hour hike to the Pfeishütte. The variety of both sides of the path fascinates me every time anew. On one side, the view falls into the lively Inn valley and on the other side, the Karwendel mountains are picturesque and peaceful. And at the Pfeishütte a delicious refreshment is waiting before it goes back again.«

»It fills me with pride, not only to climb the mountain peaks, but also to provide mountain huts and their guests with A1.«
